Fáilte! So I’m Marteen, and this is my website, Marteen Lane – Tour Guide & Cultural Heritage Writer. I’m a Galway-based regional tour guide from Co. Mayo with a BA (Hons) in Heritage Studies. I have a passion for Ireland’s and in particular, Galway’s cultural heritage, and I want to share that passion with you here and on my social media accounts. I also have a special interest in women’s history and dark history.
It’s all go here as I run my own walking tours in my adopted city of Galway. As an approved regional guide, I offer three unique walking tours that aim to showcase Galway from different perspectives. HerGalway Walking Tour tells the stories of remarkable women from all walks of life associated with Galway. Medieval Galway Tour transports the visitor back to medieval Galway, where they can still see the remnants of that period in history around the city. Galway Dark Tour exposes the visitor to the murky world of murders, executions, and deaths, sharing with them Galway’s dark past.
Who knows where my adventures will take me. I hope you will join me on this journey and enjoy reading my posts. If you would like to hire me for paid freelance writing work, want to book me for a tour, or if you have any questions about Galway or Ireland in general, you can contact me at marteen.lane@gmail.com. Slán go fóill!
Why would you move to Canada! :O

Why not? It’s a two year working holiday visa and a chance for me to travel, experience a new country and make new friends 😊

Awww Rachel thank you so much! That really means a lot. That’s so cool you were sent to review the ebook! I’ve been blogging for over a year as a lifestyle blogger and recently rebranded as a travel blogger, new look and new name for blog 🙂 Best decision I made!

I work with The Quiet Man Museum in Cong. It’s been closed for the winter but is reopening next week. I show people around the locations that were used in the film and serve customers in the gift shop. I also give a ghost tour for the public and the PaddyWagon buses with the museum. I can’t wait to get back to work. We get a lot of PaddyWagon buses coming through the village and a lot of CIE buses book The Quiet Man tour. Patrick from PaddyWagon was create for rounding up the troops for the ghost tour 🙂

Oh awesome! I tell Tiernan to come say hi next time he’s around. He actually did a tour that went through Cong today! That ghost tour sounds cool, though. I’ll put that on my bucket list!

Ah that’s a pity! It isn’t easy getting over. There’ve been a few blogging events in Dublin that I haven’t been able to make. Yeah hopefully next year 😊
